Never Say Never!

Well over a year ago I began hand stitching a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt. Last July I posted my progress, telling you that I had managed to figure out a way to cover the top of the bed, and do a pillow tuck, but was determined NOT to do the remaining borders with appliqué as well. Well... never say never! LOL! As it turned out, I did indeed end up doing the remaining borders in appliqué! I'm soooooo relieved to finally have this quilt FINISHED! Hand stitched hexagons, hand appliqué work... both things I would have sworn I would never do. Wow... Never Say Never!

Happy Quilting!

  6. Thank you all for the lovely compliments! This was one of those quilts where I felt like I was in the middle of a raging river.... I had to either keep paddling or just get drug under!! ROFL! I'm happy with the results, but I have to say that all-in-all the amount of work in contrast to the amount of return lets me know that hand piecing isn't something I'll do a lot of in the future. Hand applique was kinda fun though!

    1. I did the math! ROFL! Seriously, that's how! I figured out how many inches of fabric it would take to cover my pillows, and that was how much I would need to do applique work on. So that's what I sketched out and did, then attached it to the top I had done. Then I added the other borders the same way.... just doing the math as I went along.
